The staff of Metanoia makes positive changes in our community each day. They are responsible for taking the vision of our Board and Community and making that vision a reality.

Anthony Joyner - Housing Program Director

Family: I am married to the lovely Krystle Stephens-Joyner.

Charmaine Townsend: Director of Children's Leadership Development

I like working at Metanoia because I wake up knowing that I

just might experience the kingdom of God on any given day.

or work in the yard with our dog, Samba, as a helper.

Stacy Brown: Civic Leaders Program Co-Director

Educational Background: Currently a Senior at Charleston Southern University with plans to go to Medical School
Employed with Metanoia since June 2006.
Hobbies: reading, singing in the Charleston Southern Gospel Choir, student government senator, SC Student Legislature, and I volunteer at a nursing home.

I like working at Metanoia because there is a high level of commitment, passion, and trust in every aspect our work. I encounter the love of God through Metanoia every day.

Geraldine Ramirez : Young Leaders Program Assistant Director

Pat Wright – Administrative Assistant

Family: I am the oldest of five children. I now live with two of my sisters and one cat. A neighbor affectionately calls us the "Golden Girls"

I like working at Metanoia because I get to spend time with the future of America and have a positive influence on their lives. I especially enjoy working with the Boys Club at Metanoia and teaching them to be young leaders.

Rev. Evelyn Oliveira is a founder of Metanoia and now serves as a lead volunteer as she and Bill await arrival of their children whom they are adopting from Ethiopia.

What’s it like to work at Metanoia?

"Hello, my name is
Charmaine Townsend.
I am a person who is
pushing forward into
a new relationship
with God and others
to help create a strong
community."

The above statement is the mission statement
of all of us who are a
part of the Metanoia
family. In August of
2003 I learned of an
organization that was rising up in the
Chicora/Cherokee
neighborhood.

That organization was called Metanoia.
When I first heard
the name I had no idea what it meant. What I did know was that they were opening an after-school program
in a neighborhood
where kids needed
somewhere to go
once school was out.

I then made the
decision to try to be
a part of Metanoia.
I applied for one of
the positions being
offered and by the
grace of God I was
hired.

On my first day on the job I found out what Metanoia meant. It means “positive change.” By the end of that first day after learning what their plans were I truly believed that with CBF and with the help of Rev. Evelyn and Rev. Bill, changes were going to come into our neighborhood,
and they would be
positive.

Well it has been a year and five months since I’ve been with Metanoia and day by day we are making positive changes.

Since Metanoia was started Chicora Elementary, our neighborhood school is no longer worried about being closed down, but is looking forward to having a new school built. Residents in the community are being offered classes on credit counseling
and home ownership.

Also right now we
have 25 Young Leaders who are learning more ways of making our
community a stronger place. I am blessed to be a part of Metanoia where we are all are pushing forward
together.
