Metanoia’s youth leadership programs differ from other youth programs in that they are:

  • Year round:  Rather than just offering opportunities for students after school or during the summer months, we serve our students throughout the year. Metanoia’s Young Leaders and Civic Leaders Programs offer after school programming during the school year, and our Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School provides day long leadership building for six weeks during the summer.
  • Involving Multiple Age Groups:  When Metanoia began its after school Young Leaders Program for elementary school students, our goal was to hold onto students as they grew older and offer them continued opportunities for leadership development. By fall 2012, Metanoia will be serving students from first grade through college in our leadership pipeline. Students who arrive with us in elementary school are shown a clear path toward becoming successful community leaders through this pipeline.
  • Getting Parents Involved:  Because we understand parents have to be involved in students’ lives to make them great leaders, Metanoia requires parents to participate in our community to keep children in our programs. In an average year, Metanoia parents contribute more than 1,500 hours of community participation to keep their children involved.
