Meet a Young Leader

Alexi

By the end of kindergarten, she was already accustomed to being labeled as a rebel at school.  Alexi looked different, which led her to fighting in school.  After one year as a Young Leader at Metanoia, that label had already started to peel from her name.  According to Alexi, she learned how to be a “better person” through Young Leaders.  As she enters the fourth grade, Alexi is a top student who earns mostly A’s and B’s, tops the Principal’s List and regularly makes the Honor Roll.

The staff and counselors at Metanoia support her academic achievements and her parents are actively involved in her growth and progress.  Alexi says that her parents encourage her, telling her that “getting good grades leads to getting a good education and job in the future.”  Alexi has set her sights beyond fighting in the classroom. She now wants to learn how to be a lawyer so that she can fight for others in a courtroom.  Lexi says she wants to “inspire Latinos and Americans to get a good education, good job, and make their dreams come true.”
