Meet a Parent Dream Team Member: Yvette Davis

Ms. Yvette Davis never knew that she would grow so much simply by signing her first grader up for an afterschool program.  Very quickly she learned that she loved what Metanoia Young Leaders Program was doing with her son, D’Angelo.  He became more patient, more open, and more willing to take on leadership roles.  Yvette said she was “overwhelmed with pride” when she overheard D’Angelo steering his friend out of trouble at home one day.  She feels, “he would have never done that before Metanoia.”

As Yvette has seen D’Angelo grow, she has seen her own growth as a leader too.  When she signed D’Angelo up, she signed up to be on the Parent Dream Team, a group of highly involved parents at Metanoia.  Yvette knows that the Dream Team has made her more open.  She brings treats for the kids in the program, pitches in whenever needed, and even works on the weekend and through lunch breaks so she can attend field trips.  In the past she knew she could contribute more, but “I kept it inside,” says Yvette.  “Now that I am more active as a parent, I like helping Metanoia and being involved in my son’s life.”
