Metanoia’s Young Leaders and Civic Leaders Programs work with 60 of our community’s most promising youth each day after school. The Young Leaders Program accepts 40 students each year who attend Chicora Elementary School. The students are recommended by their teachers for showing significant leadership capacity.

Metanoia provides these students with daily inspiration, homework help, a meal and a variety of leadership building activities. Each of these activities aligns around our Integrated Leadership Development Standards Model (developed for Metanoia by the College of Charleston Masters in Public Administration Program). 

As Metanoia’s Young Leaders grow up, we continue to work with them to build their leadership skills through our daily Civic Leaders Program. The Civic Leaders focus on character education, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Students have started two small businesses and opened savings accounts for college in partnership with First Citizens Bank.
